It’s the second weekend of this years April and we are lucky! After days and days of rain, suddenly the sun breaks through and we are facing a wonderful day with optimal light conditions for filming 360° video. Time to set off to the Chiemsee, the biggest of the famous bavarian lakes. We are on our way to take a journey back in time, when Romans and Celtic Tribes roamed the northern shores of the lakes. And we want to take you with us. Therefore we are equipped with several 360° video cameras, drones and audio recording equipment.
Archeologists have found a vast amount of celtic and roman fragments and remains of buildings in the area. You can learn more about it in the ‘Römermuseum Bedaium‘. Part of the archeological efforts is also a reconstructed celtic farmstead near the small village Stöffling.
The nice people from the ‘Home and History Club Bedaium’ agreed to show up at the filming location in Stöffling dressed in celtic and roman clothing. This gave us the opportunity to film and shoot the farmstead as it may have looked in antique times.
Our partner Traugott Emrich from AeroFotografie brought two of his professional drones for filming 360° video and shooting high resolution panoramas from the air. He also did some stereo 3D panoramas with his custom build camera mount. Sylvia Rothe, also a partner, provided professional audio recording.
Then we shot with our 5 camera mount some high resolution 360° scenes where the dressed up ‚celts‘ and ‚romans‘ did some acting. They fought with their swords and shields, showed some ancient craftsmanship like basked braiding and even cooked a meal like the people did around 2000 years ago. Yes, we tasted the soup and the fresh bread and it was wonderful!
You can see some of the footage here. But the real reason we did this filming was to prepare a whole VR and 360° ‚Roman Experience‘ we are working on. Stay tuned, to learn more!
